I find the Max software really interesting myself, but I am afraid of the learning curve too. I think that it's really nice that you have a local collage promoting a class for it
I wish my schools nearby got into this trend as well. I can say I have used Reaktor... I love it once I started to get the hang of it. But I found myself writing patches for synths and weird stuff more than I was writing tunes. So my happy medium was Reason and left Reaktor alone for now.
Cool topic, I was wondering what people where using this software too myself. -
nice.. I would like to hear and see more research, but looks very promising with the midi in being able to control a lot of internal parameters. Also the compact size is very attractive and like you said less cpu drain and less latency. Cool find, thx for posting

Tal does work for live situations...I know as Dave Noller from Dynamix II uses it for his live shows and it sounds fantastic...Personally for live situations I use the T.C. Helicon Synth...I realize this is hardware but at such a low price and with such great sound it should be mentioned here imo. You also have the option of using your voice to trigger the key in which you are vocoding! This not only allows for some more organic sounding note changes but it also frees your hands up for more realtime clip launching and knob tweeking (never enough tweeking!) It also works in the more conventional way where you can hook it up to a keyboard or even guitar to trigger the notes...very easy to get a good sound out of this voice pedal...and for advanced users it does have some some customization options but these are not fast and need to be done and saved before your set. Hope this helps:)
Dope will check it out. thx for the great post

yes, this TAL is great sounding indeed but i understand you cannot use this in a live situation.. is the ELS capable for such a thing?
I have done this with ableton and Tal, a little latency, but worked as a live input/vocoder for me..
