With out a doubt, Newcleus were brilliant. I am more curious to find out about the actual equipment used on their albums and if all the music was written/performed by the key members of the group. Because they were so pioneering, I would love to know what were the influences that came before that they took from and expounded on that sound. Personally, I hear some similarities to The Jonzun Crew and Midnight Star in the "funk" elements but by no means just carbon copies. Twilight 22 also are somewhat similar but really can't touch Newcleus. I think we would all agree Newcleus stands alone as one of the greatest electro groups of all time. Would love to hear Cozomo's side of the "creative" process that made Newcleus what they are.

Oh boy, this looks delicious!

MMMMM....mint coffee. Oh, and Beatronic is a dope tune.

All of his early stuff is pure electro goodness. Some of my fav records as well. I have to admit, I blew off Brother Arab. I should probably get it and re-visit that record and not dismiss it as sub-par. I think I was turned off due to it's lack of "electro" influence since most of these artists had shed that skin a few years earlier with the onset of "gangsta" rap.

Word up!!!

"Let's Rock - Non Stop" is by far the only reason this record is any good. Killer electro tune.

Yeah, I remember someone telling me that some time ago. I believe their stuff was on Triangle Records as a test pressing right?

For me, here is a couple:
1. Phantoms Of The Beat
2. Freshno
3. NJ4 -

I never heard "Triple Threat - The Game is cold" good? "Smoove Dee - I´m Ready" on this small label is cool!
Both are pretty decent tracks. Smoove Dee "I'm Ready" is definitely a more "electro" sounding track ala WCWC. Triple Threat - "The Game Is Cold" was co-produced by Dr. Dre and is more straightforward rap. Both are hard as f**k to find.

It's complete trash mate
Alot of people hate this song but it is one of my favorites ;D. Sorry Aitchski, gotta disagree on this one. The only flaw is the panning of the vocals to the right and left channels in the mix.

I was just saying that other than the "singing" on a few of the tracks, this ep is pretty good. My fav track has to be Future Beat. Killer vocoder rap on that song.
-
Not a bad electro/funk rap record as Aladin put it but it does have some annoying male singing on all but one of the songs. Nice vocoder though. All in all, I'd give it a 7/10.

I have to admit, not a Fat Boys fan. Still respect them but never really got to much into them.

It was around 1984 for me (I'm 38 now). Someone played Grandmaster Flash's "Scorpio" in their car and the rest was history. Anyways, I am one of those pesky Americans living in Portland, Oregon.
BTW, what is Runcorn famous for? -
Please do. Thanx...

That's just how we roll...

WHOA, I never said I didn't like the track. I agree, I think it fits the song perfectly. I was only asking that why would the WCWC use that style of recording "scratches". "He's Bionic" is one of my fav jams and I can not find any reason to pick the song apart. I actually like the scratch tracks but was only bringing to the discussion that MAYBE it would have sounded better doing it without sampling. Just my opinion.
