Ice Cube's interview on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon discusses his days in the Stereo Crew ("She's A Skag" on Epic records from 1986). Scroll down to the third video.

That ones sounds like Rock Squad "Facts Of Life" mixed with some other stuff but I could be wrong.
-
Yeah, for me "Scratch Motion" is such a great piece of west coast electro rap history. I thought he might have let some of that creep into his music or even kept the torch burning like Egypt.
-
Take a listen to what he is doing now. I guess you can't expect all these guys to keep making retro music but this crap is just awful IMO.
-
Very raw production and simplistic. Not a real fav of mine. I think it is just an OK record. I really only like "To Be No. 1" to be honest and even then, it sounds really rushed.
-
I am going to go with Newcleus. Was more of a fan of them then SSF.
-
I have to say, I am not a fan of that Dark Star track. Even the rap version is wack to me but that is just my personal taste. It all sounds like it was done on a cheap Casio child's keyboard.

$1000 for Lay Law "Monster Rappin"? You have got to be shitting me. That is a horrible record. I much prefer "What's Your Name?". I suppose that one will be a few $100 now.

Love this jam. Sorry, I only have the vocal tracks from the record.

I guess it was bound to happen sooner than later. Somebody obviously hijacked a bunch of rips (not 100% sure if they are all his original rips but some of the scans are from other people for sure) from somebody or some forum and posted the full 12in./7in. rips of some really nice electro/rap tunes on a blog. I think this behavior will put a death nail into the coffin of sharing and trading of mp3 rips between people. It really proves you can not trust anybody anymore. Here is the link if you so desire to check it out:

I was into graffiti and making music. I wish I still had the old rap tapes my friend "Def Jeff" (that was 1985) did. We used to be called Def Jeff & The EFX Posse. The graf crew was I.T.B. (Instinct To Bomb). Those where good times. My only regret was selling off quite a few records back in about 1995.

Wow, wtf?

Vin Diesel was a b-boy? Wow, that is killer. I wonder if he is proud of that. Puts him in a whole new light...

Kid Frost - Terminator with The Brothers Supreme in close second.

What I meant was their music (except for the Calling on The Dream Team & Rockberry Jam) had a sort of bubblegum appeal to them. They wrote music to reach a larger audience obviously compared to their west coast counter parts. Nothing wrong with that.
-
Definitely one of the more "pop" rap artists from the west coast. Nothing stellar but "Dream Team Is In The House" is an ok tune for me.
-
All music can be traced to roots previous to it's popularity. No one is denying the influence of Kraftwerk on Egyptian Lover. i just do not understand your lack of respect towards a pioneer in the electro/rap genre.

Quote from darrell;22916
Egyptian Lover has been dining out big style on the success of one or two
krafwerk style tunes for the last 25 years or so, or is it just me ??
that thinks the player is well past his sell by date... the pyramids on my dollar
bills are so shinny.. ooooo sexy count themApart from the earwek and the james track with i thought were good.
Sorry folks if the “if the Emperor Has No Clothes on then Emperor Has No Clothes”
While you are entitled to your opinion, why are you on a forum that is dedicated (mostly) to electro music if you are going to trash Egyptian Lover? Who is undoubtedly a huge pioneer of the style and brought a unique sound to hip-hop. My spidey sense is tingling. I sense a troll lurking in this thread...

I have to vote for Sound Chaser. Vocoder baby!!!
