Here is another Jam Pony Express Mix that I just uploaded to You Tube today. This one has some serious mixing on it! I think this Mix Tape was from 1989....

I was trying to remember were I heard a commercial for the "Fresh Festival 1984" that was in LA. Someone posted that commercial that ran back then somewhere on the internet.... I thought Uncle Jamm's Army mixed it or was one of the clips in the commercial? Anyway... I will try to find it.

Great post! I am a big fan of Uncle Jamm's Army. I have met Egyptian Lover and Jamie Jupitor before. They were so top notch.... They took the time to autograph a few items for me! Very cool. Egyptian Lover was by far the best DJ in Uncle Jamm's Army (No disrespect to everyone else). I was living in Escondido,California back then and remember listening to them out of L.A. late at night on the radio!

Great video upload elektroakust.! I have heard that song before but it has been awhile! But now I wish to raise the bar on you ;D .... Just kidding here is another 90s Trance song I liked..... [ame='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WylwLxHIp2I&feature=channel_video_title']

I appreciate your response.... But I must admit that I am confused with what people define Electro as on this site. I consider Techno (Trance or Rave) Electro... am I wrong?

I just remembered I posted a song off of that masterpiece of an album I talked about in my previous post! Here it is...[ame='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24YIlMSgtGQ&feature=channel_video_title']

[/ame] What do you all think? I feel that this is Electro (1993) that was way ahead it's time!

Ok... I have put about 24 Jam Pony Express uploads on You Tube so far. I have many more coming soon. I am putting the link up here for all the BASS HEADS out there this 15 minute clip from one of my JPE Mix Tapes has ridiculous amounts of Bass on top of Bass! Anyway here it is..... [/ame] !

Electro tracks from Miami..... Well if were talking Miami Bass... 1984 2 Live Crew - The Revelation (Even though it was recorded in Cali). 1985 MC A.D.E. - Bass Rock Express.
If were talking the whole "Freestyle Scene" the above posted entries are all great examples.
Just a side note...... The Jam Pony Express has been making and selling Mix Tapes since 1981! My earliest personal Mix Tape from them that I own is 1986.

I have always understood Electro to mean Electronic Music. I Love Keyboard Synths & Drum Machines in music. The Alan Parsons Project, Cybotron (Both Australia and Detroit bands), Pink Floyd all the way to Twilight 22 and everything in between! Remember in the 90s all of a sudden Techno was being called Electronica? Remember when 80s Club and Freestyle was starting to be called Dance music? Whatever you want to call all of the sub genres... All of them basically fit under the giant unbrella called ELECTRO. Anyway... thats how I see it.

You are on to something. The true History and meaning behind the word Electro when it comes to music should be explained on Wiki. I would love to see the arguments erupt over what was the first song ever to use the term electro when describing Electronic music. Kind of like "Rap" or "Heavy Metal" when was it first said in a song? Answer... "Heavy Metal" 1968 Born to be wild by Steppenn Wolf. "Rap" 1954 Twas The Night Before Christmas by Art Carney. ;D Just stirrin' it up.

    [QUOTE=Bokkiebeh;57982]Welcome FrogLegs...

Miami Bass had its best time from 86 till 89 in my honest opinion. DXJ being the best one for me.

You nailed it.... I also believe Miami Bass was at its' best from 86 to 89! But I stayed with it until 1994... and then I felt like it was pretty much over.
I put up about 12 Jam Pony Express clips now here they are... http://www.youtube.com/user/JTFrogLegs

    What do you all' think?

In 1993 I was stationed in the Army at Ft. Carson Colorado Springs,Co. Believe it or not there was quite the Electro club scene there. One of the clubs I went to often was called "Club Metro" there was this CD called Technoclassix Volume 1 - Never mind the Beethoven" that was played just about every night. I traded the DJ some rare stuff I had for it. I still got the CD and think it is a masterpiece. By the way even back then My buddies and I would break open Cam Lights (Glow Sticks) and draw pictures on our skin with the glow gue inside so that when you were inside the club it would GLOW.. ::) ....ahhh memories.

OK here it goes..... Admin please delete this thread or transfer it to the Mixes section... I just created a You Tube channel about 5 minutes ago.... I will upload tons of Jamp Pony Express, Sugar Hill Express, Grandmaster HD, CM Express, and other underground Down South DJs Mix tapes that I have already converted to MP3. I will then just post the link here later tonight.

This is my first Thread post so forgive me if this has been posted before. I scanned through most of this forum so that I wouldn't make a double post and found nothing.... so here it goes. I moved to southeast Georgia in 1986 were I discovered the whole "Miami Bass" sound. One group of underground DJs from Florida quickly became my alltime favorites... The Jam Pony Express! I started getting my hands on every JPE tape I could (I still have them today). Anyway there are some descent clips of them on You Tube... much of it is their later stuff that was put on CD (Those were their weakest stuff in my opinion). But their 80s and early 90s Mix Tapes are some of the best mixes I have ever heard to this day. I have recently converted many of my JPE tapes to MP3 and have debated posting them. Are there any JPE fans on this Forum?

First of all this is my first post here... so hello to everyone. I guesse I would have to say 1983. I was already into Electro and B-Boying... but in 1983 while living in Escondido, California I was asked to join a B-Boy Crew called the "Backstreet Breaker's". Everyone had to have their favorite song to play during their battles againts others crews and my favorite was "Space Is The Place" by The Jonzun Crew.
