Hey...Reeno here.
I'm probably the last known electrofunk producer left in New York City.

it's just ok to me...not John Robie's best--I would say "Slack" is his best record.
Reeno
Larry Levan..but I can't because he's long gone.
I have to agree about Newcleus.....
some sophisticated, deep stuff.
I wish more current electro artists could be as musically creative as they were (and are)
Also high on the sophisticated electrofunk list are Twilight 22, Arthur Baker/Robie, and Paul Hardcastle, and Man Parrish.
...and of course..that dude Reeno:
rOLAND R-8 MK II IS the best drum machine Roland made after the 808 and 909..so if you are on a budget this is the best you can get--8 assingnable outputs.
I use a vintage prophet-5 polyphonic synth--the warmest ever made.
Moog Source mono synth--amazing for bass.
Novation Nova--great all around VA (with built in vocoder)
Perhaps the funkiest record to come out of New York City in the last 18 years.
1. "Electric Kingdom" TWILIGHT 22
2. "Planet Rock" SOUL SONIC FORCE
3. "Looking for the perfect beat" SOUL SONIC FORCE
4. "Rainforest/Sound Chaser" PAUL HARDCASTLE
5. "Hip-hop Bee bop" MAN PARRISH'
6. "Cyborg Dance" NEWCLEUS
7. "Al Nayfish" HASHIM
8. "One more shot" C-BANK
(and of course, stuff like this WWW.MYSPACE.COM/REENOFUNK)
A mini-LP of 5 funky tracks, including an electofunk cover of Kool & The Gang's "Summer Madness", make this a sure fire electro winner!

My favorite electro album artwork is TWILIGHT 22's lp cover.
Classic art and classic album.
Reeno
I have this song on original vinyl.
I always reviSIT it from time to time and always seem to have the same opinion--It's decent, but nothing special or great.
Some records in my collection are just there for historical purposes, and not because they are "must have" records...I'd say that this is def. NOT a must have record.
Reeno
I have two of these synths because I love them so much.
They are fantastic VA synths!
they can sound warm and analog, and digital and modern at the same time.
3 oscillators, multi-mode filters...what more could you want?
I used one for most of the synth parts on "Reeno's theme", which you can download for free here:

Download my very first VOCODER track, "Reeno's Theme"--it's sure to please hardcore electrofunk fans.
This is done in the classic New York style folks. (after all, I AM from NYC)
