Well, recording of music is actually legal (as long as you`re not going to avoid any copy protection. I don`t think that can`t be realized by radio stations to protect their play music). When you use it for your private use.
But I don`t think it`s legal to play it on such events because then you make it available to the public. -
I`ve just been into an electronic market and was listen to some cds...I found the album "Falko Brocksieper – Shortcake Strategy". It`s actually some kind of tech-house/techno but there were 2 tracks which I wanted to show you.
The first one is called "Avoid" which is a really nice electro track

What do you mean? "Trans Europa Express" and "Planet Rock" have the same melody. Even if the melody was played and recorded new it still sounds the same way IMO.
