I bet there still sleepwalking after all these years, wonder if that guy still has those awful jam jar glasses lol
-
They didn't exactly set the Hip Hop world alight did they ?
-
Oh come on Mystery was the first ever female mc!
They did sleepwalking.......way way ahead of its time
and they were the only UK group to perform at uk fresh 86! -
Errr Mystery first UK female mc!!!
-
I thought the Cookie Crew were first uk female rappers? Made it big when the Beatmasters got them to rap on "Rock Da House" - in 1987. Family Quest petered out after 1986?
-
They were totally useless. Malcolm Maclaren, Newtrament, Paul Hardcastle, Broken Glass, all a lot lot better UK hip hop acts...
-
This hasn't gone too well for you, has it llangollen?
I don't mind 'Sleepwalking'. Well, the instrumental bits anyway.
-
I think there still sleepwalking lmao

Dave Toop produced that track "Sleepwalking" which is probably why the record company let them put it on Electro 13; it's not that bad, a little "Mr C - e's are good!" but I wonder why they didn't come out with anything better after that as it seemed they should have gone a bit further off that springboard...
-
I have to disagree, FQ were dope. Their first twelve 'Outerspace Rap' from 84 is fiya - probably the best early UK rap record IMO - mystery's verse is butter! And, while i agree sleepwalking is a bit cheesy in places listening to it now, it was huge back then....
.....and much as i have a lot of respect for the cookies, mystery was defo the first female emcee in LDN
-
I gotta agree with llangollen and koolski here
the quest represented london hip hop and were regulars at jams and spats in the early 80's
granted i don't think the singles were classics but its not all about the vinyl - they made a decent contribution
-
Outer space is a cracking tune. I saw them perform at spats and they where O.K.
-
Im afraid its been awhile sine i posted on here as (llangollen) just catching up. Family Quest all fell out...again...so nothing came of it, just an interview in the now defunct hiphop connection

There is something that reminds me slightly of Black-eyed Peas - an early model on which they could have been based - except Michelle didn' sing
-
I wonder what Family quest are up to these days?
