2019 has unarguably been a great year for Electro both with overall visibility for the public as well as with the sheer number of quality releases being put out over the course of the year. With a newfound buzz surrounding my beloved genre, I'm hardly keeping up! I feel like It was a busy year both production-wise and promotion-wise for @DVSNME and @DarkScienceElectro respectively, however, I found some time to put together a mix of my favorite 32 tracks from 2019. This is an extension of the 'Dark Science Electro Chart' that was launched in March of 2019. This mix is just an extension of the chart itself; It allows the tracks to be mixed and counted down (from 10 to 1) into an easily digestible hour-long mix for @DarkScienceElectro - The chart is a monthly top 10 list based on a variety of publically available data that is aggregated to create a score, which is used to rank the tracks and produce the chart. You can find out more about the chart by going to www.darkscienceelectro.com/ and clicking on 'How Is This Chart Made?' beneath the chart itself. You will also find links to play the tracks, which will provide information about where they can be purchased as well. Please read that section of the website before asking me easily avoidable questions. If you have done so and still have questions/suggestions, do not hesitate to send me a message on Soundcloud. Thanks so much for listening!

This is the second installment of new series for @DarkScienceElectro where I challenge my DJ friends all over the world to 'Define:Electro' music from their personal perspective. We all have our own definitions of what Electro means to us as individuals and this series hopes to share those perspectives with the listeners of Dark Science Electro - Over the last ten years, I have hosted tons of guest mixes featuring DJs from every corner of the globe who I’ve asked to give me their interpretation of ‘@DarkScienceElectro’ for their guest mix. Generally, in the past, when I am soliciting a guest DJ, I insist that they mix their “weirdest, darkest, coldest Electro” and that has served the show well over the years in pushing my personal narrative of the genre. I do, however, recognize that my definition of Electro music isn’t the ONLY definition of Electro music so, that having been said, and without further ado, this is the definition of Electro heard through the ears of @Gamadon

For the second installment of ‘Define:Electro’ we have London-based Irish DJ, Gavin Mac Donagh, AKA @Gamadon, who has been DJing for over 20 years and been an avid Electro fan since the 90s. Gamadon started playing Electro out in Vancouver, Canada in 1999 with the Pound Recordings crew under the alias Dex of Hazzard. He has also promoted and DJ’d at several underground electronic music nights in Ireland and Bermuda. He has supported International acts such as The Prodigy, 808 State and Sunil Sharpe and is currently a resident DJ with Irish collective, Basement Project. Gamadon hosts a monthly live 2-hour video broadcast on @TimelineMusic2, beginning in the end of January 2020. The show is called Warehouse Manifesto, the same name as the label run by Gamadon.

Very excited to present the 12th ever artist highlight on Dark Science Electro for prolific Texas-based artist cygnus. I don't do these too often but when I do, you can bet your ass the highlighted artist has an impressive discography to choose from and Cygnus is no exception. I've loved his music from the first time I heard him on Central Processing Unit in 2012 and have been supporting him on my outlet ever since. His music has this kind of soul/funk that I think is absent in a lot of contemporary Electro music. He has released with many labels in his short time producing Electro, yet one would be foolish to underestimate the gravity of the impact his music has made. This mix features one track from each of his releases and most can be purchased directly on his Bandcamp page. The mix runs 1.5 hours and features my favorite of his work over the last 10 years. Enjoy!

Today's episode of Dark Science Electro is a label highlight on NYC-based imprint Satamile Records /STATIC events that is run by Andrew Price. This label absolutely dominated during the time that I was getting back into Electro (the early 2000's) and naturally made a big impression on me. I have since collected the entire discography of the label and wanted to share some of my favorite tracks with you. Link to Soundcloud in the comments.

What better way to celebrate the 500th episode of @DarkScienceElectro than by rewinding 10 years in order to take a listen to the first-ever episode of the show!? Backstory: I got my start doing this podcast more than 10 years ago on April 23rd of 2010. I was just 26 years old and was interested in sharing my definition of Electro music with the world and I saw an opportunity with Soundcloud's growing audience. I fully assumed my efforts would fall on deaf ears and I was absolutely right to assume that; For the few years that I did the show, I was lucky to have 20 plays on a mix in a month, though I wasn't remotely discouraged by it. I had this unstoppable drive to indoctrinate listeners with the weirder, darker, colder, sci-fi-tinged Electro music that wasn't getting the sort of attention that I thought it deserved. I never expected to do this for 10 years nor did I have a set end-date in mind when I started the show. Honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised to have seen it collapse after a year, yet here we are more than 10 years later standing at the foot of one of the most respected weekly Electro music podcast/outlets on the internet (so I've heard). I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people that shared, listened, liked the show over the years. I would be lying if I told you that I wouldn't be doing it without you, however, it is important to note that the constant stream of encouragement and appreciation certainly does help to fuel my fire/passion for doing what I do with @DarkScienceElectro - One exception to that is that I absolutely wouldn't be able to do this show without the labels and artists that have been so generous in supplying me with promotional music over the years. On behalf of the fans of Dark Science Electro (including myself), thank you so much for your trust, generosity and support. Love live Electro.
