which TRS cables should I use? I notice that some are stereo, like these:

and some are mono:

Does it make any difference?

not are stereo are balanced!!
balanced cables are less noise cose it phase the singnal when the signal come in and phase again when it goes out! so if the cable get a noise static for example the noise how the signal is in phase the noise is eliminated!!
is better balanced but i have lots of unbalanced(mono) and have no probs
cheers! I didn't spot that the stereo cables are 'balanced' as opposed to the mono.
normally, balanced cables (stereo) are the most appropriate for connections through the equipment that is used . Unbalanced cables are mostly used in music instruments and then to a di box...etc.
of course as Ivan said if someone use unbalanced and there is no noise , then there is no reason to replace them
lol , i am not sure if i help further as Ivan covered the point
TRS = balanced = stereo
TS = unbalanced = mono
there is a difference
cant add much to the above,
but i found these very usefull

my OSCar synth had a noisy output, xperimented with these and various high quality cables and its
now the quietist,with very powerfull output.also got one on the voco input makes a difference there also.
it wont work on everything,its kind of a trial and error.but its worth considering.
on the whole normal instrument jacks (unbalanced) work fine.
quality cables can make a difference in certain applications..
