how can i get that percussive sound that's playing in the background of egypt egypt?
it's not the hi hat, but it's running parallel to the hi hats.
sounds like an electronic static buzzy version of that famous zippy zappy percussive sound we all know from numbers.

sample/sound question (egyptian lover)

Aha ! That sound is the trigger-out of the 808.. it's like an electronic pulse.. So if u want it, just buy/sample from an 808 ooor try to make it yourself by playing with the filter freq/res..

and while we're at it, here's another percussion sound that i've spent quite some time looking for & trying to emulate - to no avail:
http://sites.google.com/site/c…kdontstop/Home/yazoo3.mp3it's this waterdrop sound from yazoo's "situation".
and no, it's not the same as in jive rhythm trax 122bpm. -
No probs lj, glad to help!
Can't help you on the Yazoo sound tho, sounds like an arpeggiator riff.
Possibly a Pro-one.
Wouldnt bet me house on it tho lol.! -
I always thought those waterdrip samples were the same as the ones used in "Axel F" from Harold Faltermeyer, its possible they used a Fairlight CMI which contained those waterdrip samples

wow, you might be on to something!
are you sure about the fairlight? my only source of fairlight samples info is greg holmes' page:
http://www.ghservices.com/gregh/fairligh/examples.htm
those "drips" sound different, don't they? -
Its the egyptian lover "HI Q" that you are referring to. Knowing the name of it may help you find it somewhere online.
-
The Roland R8 has the laser "ZAP" sound and it is called "Hi Q" but the sound that the Egyptian Lover uses in "Egypt Egypt" is slightly different,, it has more of a metallic zap to it,, and this sound is from the original TR-808. You have to use the ACcent control and have your cable hooked up to the ACcent output of the 808. For every button pressed in ACcent, you will get that "blip" zapp sound
Matter of fact, this video should solve the answer to your question

Hope this helps!!
