Anyway forget fresh 86 that was the watered down corporate version of freestyle 85 @ Covent Gardens..
With dj cheese, live to break, mode 2 goldie etc cheese did f@%k up his set then. but this was the precursor of his dmc and u.k. fresh set. this is real real super rare footage of freestyle 85. pre electro rock

nice one Darrell! I never knew that - I thought '86 was Cheese's first visit to the UK.
And adding such greats as Mantronix, Captain Rock, WCWC, Steady B, Word of Mouth and Just Ice waters it DOWN? Damn!!
Sure watered down for the masses is the wrong word, but from people i know who went to the two events fresh was real nice but freestyle had the real underground vibe. sort of "beat street vs wild style"

Darrell i see mantronix and mc tee in covent garden in the open around 85'-86' would this be the same event? it was also in the day the day time
recall mc tee telling us to be quiet cause we kept repeating mantronix name over and over when mc tee was saying something.
damn, I was too young so missed all this stuff!

I think you are right about that as well, the only person i still know that
was at it, was a bboy and a graff artist so not sure if he would know who
was doing different sets ? the video is a bit of a mash up of clips.. good stuff

It was at the Jubilee Hall Covent Garden, but sure i had a old mike allan tape with word of mouth on it saying that it was their first time in the u.k. ?? and that was 86 for fresh and rock around the clock ?

DMC is based in Slough, my home town. Tony Prince the founder made loads of money and bought a big house on the hill overlooking the golf course. Every year he organises a DJs Golf Tournament.
Nice, thanx for sharing.
Have got the video from the 87 finals Chad j won, I am pretty sure that some of the video footage from the night was stolen also a stunt Chad had set up was sabotaged by a wire being cut it was a hologram of the record lifting off the turntable at the end(apparently) think its in the loft,
Tally.
i saw cheese and word of mouth back in the day in manchester incredible did have a copy on tape of owen d
