Un Deux Trois
Uno Dos Tres Quatro!
Hi Everyone,
I was looking at page 1 of this thread yesterday and realised that it was exactly 1 year ago today that I posted it! and boy oh boy what a year its been for me, the show & Electro.
I'm in a very reflective mood this morning, so I just thought I'd share my thoughts with you all.
There have been so many 'Neck Hair'/'Chicken Skin' moments for me, like interviewing my boyhood hero of radio "Mike Allen", who's Electro/Hip Hop show on Capital Radio in the 1980s was legend and the inspiration behind my shows more informative format. I thought it was important to draw the audiences attention to the track, artist and label names etc. At a time in Electro's history that was very dark indeed, so I started spreading the word, literally.
Mike had never been interviewed before on radio and he told me off mic [no pun intended lol] that during his interviews & our conversations I had enabled him to remember a special time in his life more vividly than he done in nearly 2 decades. A moment which I will never forget as long as I live.
Another first for the show was the 2 hour special for one of my (and many others no doubt) all time favourite Nu Electro producers "Phil Klein" [AKA - Bass Junkie, Cybernet Systems, Industrial Bass Machine with Scott Weiser of Dynamix II, Kronos Device / Gods Of Technology / Bassing Guild with Simon The Dexorcist, Middle Men with Jim Kneen etc], with out a shadow of a doubt the hardest working man in Electro. His musical output over the last 20 years has helped lay the foundations and push the envelope of modern day Electro beyond every one's imagination. Which he continues to do even to this day.
But think that perhaps the greatest moment for me was my chance meeting with Morgan Khan, a legend in his own lifetime, who's knowledge, energy, creative thought and love for the Electro beat is undeniable. From the moment we met a spark occurred, that has set the scene a blaze. From the conception to the implementation of an Official Electro Chart, which was something that every genre but our own had! To the first NEW Street Sounds Electro album in over 20 years, which we believe is going to take the music world by storm and give this genre the respect it has deserved for over 10 years.
Last but certainly not least I have also met along the way many artists, labels & electro fans (I can‘t name you all but you know exactly who you are) that have encouraged me on a weekly basis to produce and host a radio show that I love and feel very proud of. Without all of you, none of the above would ever have happened so to you I owe the biggest debt of all. THANK YOU!
Keep the faith people
Peace

da-da-da-da, d-da-d-da-da! S - Express!
For me Tour de France - but not a hope in it winning looking at the results!
Any Kraftwerk track will be good to hear tho!

Indeed any of those tracks would be good to hear anytime any place anywhere, but there can be only one!
I too have a soft spot for Tour De France (Remix especially), coz back in the day I won a little dance competition doing turbo's broom dance from Breakin', only I did it with a pool cue instead. Something I came up with at my local youth club where my crew would practice every week.
Kraftwerk are the godfathers of Electro and let no one tell ya different
LOL - I can jsut picture this... a pool cue!
I think you should re-enact it and post a video on youtube!
Exellent!
I vote Numbers, and musique non stop would be my second choice.

LOL, maybe sometime, but unfortunatly I don't own a pool cue as the only thing I was ever good at with one was dancing with it
Many thanks for voting

Music Non Stop
Very nice thoughts brotha man! I can appreciate every word of it.You certainly are a hard working individual, who deserves everything you have accomplished thus far. I can admit that your positivity has pulled me along in production, and push my learning in the world of electro. I can really appreciate the detail in your show all the way down to the spotless blog playlists and the gem of show archives..
Very good year indeed Martin, good job... But, I would like to thank you personally for the super rad stage you given us to be heard and seen.. I myself feel appreciative and fortunate to be apart of this new time in electro history, brought together by yourself.. So CHEERS M8 for the good year and many more to come.. Looks like everyone is voting numbers, when i was going through the list I was gonna too but when I reached the end it had to be Musique Non Stop. Great track hope it gets more votes.
Wir sind die Roboterrrrr
Numbers - for the sound, the musical texture and for the fact that it was such a great starting point for much of what followed. Bambaataa, Baker and Robie had great taste!!!

Ive just voted for "trans europe express" , but it was a close call as i love "numbers".
Thanks for voting everyone, its great to see so many people recognise the importance of this amazing group, and that everyone knows the tune that started it - NUMMERN [Numbers]
I've decided to play the LIVE in San Francisco version as its such a wicked version I'm sure you'll all agree
