What about the new Minimoog V from Arturia, Version 2.0
you can use it as a Vocal Filter and i heard the results are even as good as the computed voice in Space 2001.
Anyone?

Quote from GROW;44191Tal does work for live situations...I know as Dave Noller from Dynamix II uses it for his live shows and it sounds fantastic...Personally for live situations I use the T.C. Helicon Synth...I realize this is hardware but at such a low price and with such great sound it should be mentioned here imo. You also have the option of using your voice to trigger the key in which you are vocoding! This not only allows for some more organic sounding note changes but it also frees your hands up for more realtime clip launching and knob tweeking (never enough tweeking!) It also works in the more conventional way where you can hook it up to a keyboard or even guitar to trigger the notes...very easy to get a good sound out of this voice pedal...and for advanced users it does have some some customization options but these are not fast and need to be done and saved before your set. Hope this helps:)
Dope will check it out. thx for the great post
no problem...it also has fantastic distortion and telephone/megaphone style capabilities that can be used and tweaked in conjunction with your vocoding...It really is a fantastic little unit!
btw..The youtube videos out there on this unit don't do it justice at all so I didn't bother attaching one...go test one and see for yourself though...and I apologize for straying from the threads original vst only focus
Quote from gammachild;44058I have done this with ableton and Tal, a little latency, but worked as a live input/vocoder for me..
Really?? How did you do it?
the important of vocoder is the control of synth, usually is used ANALOG TIMBRE for old school style, but is good too to use news synths, i like of ableton cuz have a vocoder with 4 parameters of control, extern is the best for me.
Has anyone used the Electro-Harmonix V256? It's guitar pedal-style but it has external inputs and an internal sawtooth oscillator you can trigger via midi. I'm thinking about getting a hardware one cause I run Live at too high a latency to use software. I will say though that Live's vocoder sounds pretty good even when I feed it bad recordings I'm pretty new to vocoders so I'm still getting the hang of how to control it.
nice.. I would like to hear and see more research, but looks very promising with the midi in being able to control a lot of internal parameters. Also the compact size is very attractive and like you said less cpu drain and less latency. Cool find, thx for posting
