Pioneer has unveiled a new vinyl turntable.

The as yet unnamed model went on show at Musikmesse 2014, the music trade show recently held in Frankfurt.

DJ Digital Tips got the scoop (see the video below) on the deck, which looks set to fill the gap left by the now discontinued Technics 1210.

A Pioneer representative confirmed that it is a concept product and that the company are fully aware of the continuing rise in popularity of vinyl in the dance music market.

Speculation has it that the deck could come with USB functionality, which is an exciting prospect indeed. With Technics turntables no longer being produced, it seems likely that Pioneer will step up and release this new model in the future.

So Pioneer have decided that the gap left by Technics is worth pursuing. It will be interesting to see how the deck performs, but it certainly isn't intended for anyone beyond the DJ world. I would imagine it has a USB / immediate computer hook up - possibly allowing firms to market a suitably priced interconnect for the audiophile.
